Philippe Allain-Dupré was born in Brittany, France, and his first musical interest was Celtic music. He studied historical flutes with Barthold Kuijken at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels and now performs on copies of Renaissance and Baroque flutes of his own making, as well as teaching at the Paris and Toulouse Conservatoires. His many recordings of French Baroque music and his complete recordings of the Hotteterre suites (Naxos) received high praise from critics. His book Les Flûtes de Rafi was published by Fuzeau and two articles have appeared in the Galpin Society Journal.
